Dementia care

in SW London and Mid East Surrey

Dementia or Alzheimer’s causes loss of memory which affects everyone differently and fundamentally changes how one thinks. This means that they can experience the world in a completely different way to the people around them. Their environment, the relationships they have and the support they receive all play a huge role in helping them adjust to their condition.

What does it mean?

Millfield Healthcare understands that many factors play a role in shaping how a person with dementia feels about and experiences their life. These includes their relationships, environment and the support they receive.

We recognise that personal relationships and social environment plays a central role in a person’s life, more so if they have dementia. Hence, our carers are trained to be sensitive with a focus on promoting the well-being of our clients. We are supportive in making a person with dementia feel valued and included, whilst understanding how they might think and how this affects the way they behave.

We appreciate that each person is unique, with their own story, likes and dislikes. Our focus is on how they feel, not what they can remember. We aim to maximise what they have and not dwell what they have lost.

How we can help

Our specialist care team is well trained and appreciate the impact dementia can have on your loved ones. We are happy to provide the individual care plan needed so they can stay in the familiar environment of their home safely and for as long as possible.
